Your First Remote Job, Without “3 Years Remote Experience”

"Three years of remote experience" is a filter for a lifestyle, not a skill. You can be a credible first applicant from Guadalajara, Ankara, or Lima if you can do the work and write clearly. This is the job that starts the dollar salary. Treat the search like it matters, because the month it changes is the point. The picture of that month is in why a US salary goes further outside the US. Before you assume the paycheck changes the month, put your city next to another in the cost of living comparison.

Use this order:

1. Pick two titles, not ten. "Customer support" and "implementation specialist" is a search. "Any remote job" is not.
2. On search, read the description before you apply. Prefer posts that say the work, the overlap, and how to apply.
3. Check the hiring constraint. Authorized to work in the US, and you are not: skip. Contractor, your region, or your country: continue.

5. Add proof you can work without an office: a freelance project, a class with a deadline, care you coordinated, or a job where you already wrote updates. Name the writing, the deadline, and the outcome. Do not rename an old job to sound remote.
6. Apply to a small number you can tailor. Twenty careful applications beat a hundred identical ones.

The sample a stranger can open

A teacher who emailed parents on a deadline, a nurse who documented a handoff, a shop lead who scheduled a team in a chat: that is coordination. It is not a fake "remote operations manager" line. Then make one thing outside the old workplace: a short help article, a checklist, or a small project with a README. Put the link on the resume only after you have read it on your phone.
